Virtueel Platform presents E-culture: order now

Virtual Platform presents E-Culture, published in 3 parts. Together these three books give an overview of the breadth of e-culture in the Netherlands and abroad.

Navigating e-Culture examines two areas in which e-culture is challenging the traditional ways in which we experience culture, public space and technology we carry around with us every day.

In November 2008 Virtueel Platform organised an international conference on communities and networks in the post-Web 2.0 era. Rather than documenting the conference itself, the book Walled Garden contains a series of essays written after the conference, and as such provides an in-depth discussion of many of the key issues raised.

The term e-culture has been used for several years as both a new arts discipline and as a term to describe a broader socio-cultural transformation. Mapping e-culture examines the state of play in various fields of e-culture in the Netherlands: education, the arts and the creative industries, and offers some visions for the future. Mapping e-culture also takes an international perspective, looking at examples of how e-culture is developing in other parts of the world (China, the Middle East and Brazil).

The e-culture book is in limited circulation available in the deluxe edition. This deluxe edition consists of a cassette with the 3 books, a map of the e-culture landscape and the DVD Beyond physical space with work of 3 media artists. After this period, the publicatin will be available as three separate booklets.
